Boise State Broncos are clearly the national champions!!!
It means they’ll be the only undefeated team.
Of course, I could think of at least 6 other teams that would have gone undefeated with that schedule, namely Florida, Ohio State, USC, Duke, Thiel, and Central Upper Nebraska Tech.
It means that Boise State beat a bunch a weak WAC teams and got a close win over oklanhoma and deserves to be ranked #4 under Florida Ohio and USC

Last I checked, being undefeated after playing in a division full of Division III teams doesn’t make you the National Champions. Winning the BCS National Championship means you’re the national champions.

Where is Boise anyhow?
Hm…….yeah who have they beaten? San Jose State, Hawaii, Idaho? Yeah real juggernauts of the gridiron there. I’ll give them the Oklahoma win but they haven’t played anybody.

Being that Boise State plays in a mediocre conference (WAC) and had a very mediocre non-conference schedule (Oregon State, Wyoming, Utah and 1-AA Sacramento State), I don’t think under the current system that they would ever be considered national champions. Most of the teams in the BCS would be undefeated as well if they got to play the schedule Boise did.
Boise played only 5 teams that made it to a bowl game (Oregon State, Hawaii, Utah, San Jose State and Nevada), which isn’t exactly a murderer’s row. “Good” teams, yeah, but the only “great” team Boise beat all year was Oklahoma. And even though I like to pimp the WAC as much as possible (Nevada is my alma mater), realistically, the WAC is not going to win a football title in the BCS era unless Boise was to go 12-0 AND every other school had at least two losses (which isn’t likely to happen).
However, if there was a playoff in place, where conference winners were seeded like they do with the NCAA basketball tournament, then I think Boise would have as good a chance as any team to win the tournament.
to TheOnlyBeldin – I doubt Duke would have won more than two or three games in the WAC. While there are a few horrible teams (Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, Utah State) and a couple below-average ones (Fresno State, Idaho), at the top it’s not bad. San Jose State and Hawaii both won their bowl games, and Nevada almost beat five-time champion Miami. Just because a team (like Duke) is horrible in a BCS conference doesn’t mean they’ll do any better in a non-BCS conference.
It means Florida is the National Champion and Bosie St isn’t.
Did you see their schedule? They may as well have been playing blind schools. It was that weak.
It means they’ll be ranked around #4 or 5 in the final media and coaches top 25 polls
It means that in several instances, the Big Ten ***** and that Boise State should be a top 5 team.
